Building Relationship for Life!

Counsel for the Newly Unemployed

Several resources are available for those who have recently transitioned jobs. Here are a few steps to consider as you begin this process revealing God's next stage for your professional life:

1) Focus on your true identity: Too many of us allow a job position or knowledge status to be our identifying reality. But God has made you in His image, for purposes much greater than nine-to-five. Remember: you are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for the good works God has prepared in advance for you to do. (Ephesians 2:10).

2) Resist fear for the future: Understand that God has a perfect plan, and you can have confidence in that plan. II Timothy 1:7 says, "For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."

3) Gather a support network: Don't try to do this alone. Find people who will pray for you, network for you, hope for you, even retrain you if necessary.

4) Dare to dream: Assess your skills and experience, then consider what God might be able to do with them once they're fully surrendered to His purposes.

5) Ask for help: Don't let the difficulties of the present distress put you in a place -- spiritually or residentially -- that you don't want to be. Call our church counseling center and we'll get you connected.  Also visit our classified page www.fbcnet.com/classifieds
