Lawanda Slaton-Walker

Lawanda has her National Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and an Associate of Science degree in the paralegal field.  She has 15 years of work experience and enjoys every year the Lord has allowed her to be able to love, teach and protect the children that come along her path. She teaches our one year old Puffy Point class.  Lawanda’s hobbies are reading, cooking, spending time with her family and enjoying life to the fullest.

 

 

Karen Gooze

Karen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary education and currently going to school to receive her Masters in Elementary Education. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale where she has volunteered for the preschool ministry. At the NGLC, she teachers our infant class Snuggle Bugs. She has also taught kindergarten.  Her hobbies are reading, movies and arts and crafts.

 


Tamara R. Felton

Tamara was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was educated through the Broward County School System and graduated from Pompano Beach High School. She attended Ultrasound Diagnostic School where she studied Medical Assisting. In 2005, she began teaching at First United Methodist Preschool. She earned her CDAE through Nova Southeastern University. In 2009 she joined the NGLC where she teaches our PreK two classroom. Since working here she has received her National CDAE. She enjoys reading, shopping, dancing and singing.

 

 

 

 

Elizabeth Garcia-Lavin

Elizabeth has a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and over ten years of experience as a preschool teacher.  She has also taught some Spanish by immersion in childcare.  She currently teaches our PreK three class Crab Crossing. Elizabeth thoroughly enjoys spending as much time with her family as possible and teaching her children the importance of family life.  Her hobbies are cooking, biking and arts & crafts.

 

Soledad Villeda

Soledad has her Child Development Associate and Director Credentials.  She has been working in early childcare for 12 years with both Pre-K three and PreK four. She currently teaches our Prek four class Beluga Bay.  She loves working with children and her hobbies are reading and playing tennis.

 

Janet Hull

Janet attends Broward College and has over 16 years of experience in childcare.  She’s taught at First Christian Church of Wilton Manors and Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach. She currently teaches our PreK three class Leap Frogs.  She has been married 22 years and has four children that she enjoys watching play sports and going on vacation with.  Her hobbies are drawing, painting, writing poetry and sermons and sewing.

 

 

 

 

Denisse Santos

Denisse, originally from Honduras has her Child Development Certificate and is currently working on an Associate in education.  She worked at the YMCA and the local child care facility Tutor Time for five years.  She’s also worked as a teacher’s aide, summer camp programs and volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club.  Event planning, basketball, baking and shopping are her favorite hobbies.

 

 

Maria Roman

Maria has been teaching professionally in the child development field for seven years.  She’s also volunteered at the elementary school her two sons attend.  Maria has her Child Development Associate credentials and also has experience in art and music.  She’s certified in First Aid and CPR.  Maria enjoys watching children learn, grow and express themselves in their own individual ways.  In her spare time Maria enjoys trying new foods, watching television and movies and spending time with her husband and two boys.

 

 

Melissa Montgomery

Melissa, a mother of two was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. At the NGLC she teaches in our Tidal Pool class. Melissa really enjoys working with children and helping each child discover his or her own individuality. She is certified in First Aid and CPR.

 

 

Patricia Lowe

Patricia, originally from Alabama is married with two children. She is new to the NGLC this year teaching in one of our VPK classes. Patricia has a bachelor of science from Stillman University and an elementary certification from FAU. She has her certification in First Aid and CPR. In her free time Pat enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and crocheting.
