Summer Music Institute The 2006 Fort Lauderdale Summer Music Institute held
Monday, June 19 – Friday June 30, 2006 will feature
five divisions:
FULL DAY, 9 AM – 4 PM
Intermediate I – Ages 6-12 String Players
Strings: Suzuki Books 1 and 2
Intermediate II – Ages 8-13 All orchestral instruments
Strings: Suzuki Books 3 and 4
Winds/brass/Percussion: Grades 2-3 solo piece
Advanced – Ages 8-19 All orchestral instruments
Strings: Suzuki end of Book 4 and above
Winds/Brass/Percussion: Grade 4 and abovesolo piece. Advanced reading proficiency
Piano – Ages 9-18: Includes chamber music,theory, history and performance
Above division information is a guideline to assist
registering students. Final placement will be determined by Institute staff.
Held at First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale.

Each division will have classes in music theory, technique,
chamber music and large ensemble in addition to masterclasses
and performances. Musicians will also enjoy special events,
contests, recreational activities and end-of-day concerts.
All students will perform a final concert in the auditorium at
the First Baptist Church campus.
A limited number of Teaching Assistant positions are available
to advanced students. Please call for more information
Placement Auditions
Saturday, June 18th,
9 AM – 4 PM.
(No auditions are neccessary for
the Primary and Piano Divisions.)
Tuition Includes music, home study copies and daily lunch.
Registration deadline: May 31, 2006
A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due with registration.

The Fort Lauderdale Summer Music Institute, now in its 11th year, has evolved
into a respected summer arts education program for
student musicians. It is a rewarding and enjoyable summer
experience for talented young musicians. A variety of
enriching and creative activities; the opportunity to meet
new friends and an outstanding music education… ten
days will be remembered for a lifetime!
The Institute’s mission is multi-faceted:
1.to provide the highest standard of training and
performance in an intensive ten-day schedule
2.to assemble a faculty with the most effective artist-teacher
